In an important study across three samples of executives from the US and Europe, Rob and his collegues Jasmine Vergauwe, Bart Wille, Joeri Hofmans, and Filip De Fruyt have provided a personality-based definition and measure charisma and show that there is an optimal level of charisma for effective leadership. Leaders slightly evelated on charisma are the most effective; those who lack charisma and, to the surprise of many, those with a great abundance of charisma are notably less effective.
