Early research on derailment identified “personality flaws” and “strengths overused” as key reasons why executives get fired. This study explored the link between the two, and found sizable relationships between the dark side personality traits measured by the Hogan Development Survey and strengths overused as measured by coworker ratings on the Leadership Versatility Index 360.
